Professor Gregory joined VISES in 2009 as Professorial Fellow and is Professor Emeritus at the Australian National University. Professor Gregory has been closely involved in Australian economic policy development, as member the Board of Management at the Australian Institute of Family Studies, principal consultant for Aged Care Reviews for the Department of Community Services and Health, member of the committee that recommended the introduction of student income contingent loans, collected by the Tax Office, member of the Committee on Employment Opportunities and member of the Board of the Reserve Bank of Australia from 1985-1995.
In 1996 he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal. Professor Gregory has held positions at the London School of Economics, Industries Assistance Commission, Northwestern University, and the Federal Reserve Board, Washington. He was was Professor of Australian Studies at Harvard University (1983-1984) and Visiting Professor at Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago (1994).
